16/01/10 Claro Intellect & Andy Stott @ TEST

After years of pissing in the wind, while working, like , very hard we have finally found ourselves moving the club night to a Saturday night in the Twisted pepper to take the place of the recently defunct Electric Shock. Its a huge pair of boots to fill but we have been working on a killer line up!

2010 and beyond!

Our first night shall be on the 16th Jan and we shall be showcasing the Manchester record label Modern Love.

A new year brings changes to Test as it moves to the Twisted Pepper basement on Saturday nights.

We mark the first month of the new decade with a showcase from Manchester's mighty Modern Love label.

Representing the UK's most respected techno stamp are dub techno producer Claro Intelecto aka Mark Stewart. With a number of albums to his credit, as well as the defining 'Warehouse Sessions' series, Stewart recently branched out into deep house with the release of 'Chadderton'.

The label's other main act, Andy Stott, is also performing. Still only in his 20s, Stott has produced a body of work that belies his youth. Be it grungy acid classics like 'Demon in the Attic', the lurching dubstep of 'Night Jewel' or the sensuous house that intermittently featured on his debut album, the common feature in all of Stott's productions - and his incendiary live shows - are his heavy basslines and resonating beats.

Support comes from Test's Richard Brophy, who'll be spinning everything from rare UB40 remixes to Mike Dehnert releases.

11/12/09 Mike Dehnert (Fachwerk- Berlin)

Hi,

After a great performance from US housemeister Levon Vincent, Test welcomes another new school talent, with German techno producer Mike
Dehnert making his Irish debut on Friday, December 11th at the Mezz @Twisted Pepper.

While Mike has been making music since 2000, it's only in the past two years that his releases have won him international acclaim.

Dehnert's own Fachwerk label is the main outlet for his chord-heavy, moody take on dance floor house and techno, but he also released two killer EPs on Clone's new Bassment sublabel this year.

Mike is one of the most in demand new acts in European electronic music, so we're delighted he's performing for Test.

Get down early to check the man with the big techno sound blow the intimate room apart!

Support comes from Kerry's own bad ass, Paudi Ahern and Dublin straight lacer Jay Galligan.

Here is a recent live set from Mr Dehnert to stimulate you aurally:

27th November: Levon Vincent @ The Mezz

Hi all,

Test returns to the Mezz this month with the Irish debut of the irrepressible Levon Vincent.

Although he started releasing music back in 2002, it's only in the past year that this veteran of NY clubs has wooed the house and techno worlds with releases on Novel Sound, Deconstruct, Underground Quality and Ostgut.

Mixing classic US house textures with the tough metallic rhythms of European techno, Levon's work has been championed by the Hardwax store and the Berghain coterie of DJs, including Klock, Galligan, sorry, I meant Dettmann, Steffi and Faki.

Although still based in the States, Levon is a regular visitor to Europe and can regularly be heard rocking clubs like Tape, Berghain and Robert Johnson.

We're delighted that he's playing for Test - get down early on the 27th November to the Mezz in the Twisted Pepper to check this new underground hero out.

Resident Advisor 'big up' the gig here:

Test residents DJ party 30th Oct @ The Twisted pepper

Hi all,

Test starts its new residency at the Mezz in Twisted Pepper on Friday,

With a number of great new guests lined up for the coming months, we
decided it would only be fair to put the focus on the club's
residents, the guys who play warm up at each gig.

Expect to hear Dan McElligott, Paudi Ahern, Oisin Murphy and Richard
Brophy play everything from deep Detroit electro through slamming,
wonky techno and jacking Chicago trax.

Get down to our new home to hear Test's residents shine in the spotlight!

Its FREE IN if you mail back to us for guestlist or just mention you are going to Test at the door.

Also performing on the same night, !Kaboogie have solid UK dub producer Scan One to make his debut Irish appearance in the basement.

Moving on...

So you can probably guess by the headline that there are some changes in the air - and you're right. Friday September 25th marked the last night for Test at the Underground. The club has hosted some amazing artists at the venue over the past 18 months
(Redshape, Sleeparchive, The Advent, DMX Krew, Dopplereffekt, Decal, Substance, Dan Bell, Regis, Function, Deetron, Convextion, Robert Hood, James Ruskin, Shawn Rudiman, Donato Dozzy, Lerosa),
but it was just not working out at the Underground. The staff were all great to work with, as were all the guests who came from near and far.

Later this month - Friday October 30th, to be precise - Test starts up at its new home in the mezz section of the Twisted Pepper, with a residents' line up. The space is a good bit smaller than the Underground, but has all the right requirements - a small blacked out room with a great sound system and a DJ booth right at eye level - to suit Test's purposes.

Anyway, thanks again to all the staff, guests and, most importantly, punters who came down to the club - hopefully see you at the new home.

25/9/09 Donnacha Costello DJ set (Minimise) & Richard Brophy (Test)

Hi all,

Donnacha Costello makes his long-overdue debut at Test at the Undeground, Dublin, this Friday, September 25th.

With releases on D1, Mille Plateaux and his own Minimise and Look Long imprints, Donnacha is one of Europe''s most acclaimed techno producers.

Responsible for works as diverse as the isolationist ambience of the 'Together is the new Alone' album and the sublime techno that typified his Colorseries records on Minimise, as well as his new, mellower Look Long imprint, Costello brings a fresh and distinctive approach to each release.

Donnacha has a touring schedule that makes Aerosmith look like wusses, so we're honoured to have him playing for us at Test - expect him to perform old, new and unreleased material.

Support comes from Test resident Richard Brophy, who'll be spinning spaced out house and techno with a few cheeky nods to Chicago jack trax. Check out his blog, testindustries.com or cyphermusic.blogspot.com for his mixes and musings.

Dan McElligott 20 min mix on RTE Pulse

Hi All,

Just testing out the capabilities of Sound Cloud integration with the Test Blog. The mix is taking from a guest mix that I played live in the RTE studios for the Ceol Eire show back in July.

You should be able to stream the mix direct from this blog and if you have a Sound Cloud account you can download the mix directly from there site.

Cheers

Dan
